Star Hotel

A very warm welcome awaits you at the family run Star Hotel in Montrose, known to be one of the oldest coaching houses in Scotland accommodating travellers and holiday makers since 1748. The hotel is steeped in history and was one of the last stopping off points for weary travellers heading north.

There is a well stocked bar, 140 guest function room and 15 bedrooms which are a mix of economy, superior and family rooms that ensure all budgets are catered for. Please note that due to the age of the building there is no lift facility.

It is a very friendly family run establishment that welcomes well behaved dogs.

They currently do not offer evening meals but are right in the heart of Montrose where there ample restaurants, take-aways and supermarkets to cater for all and within a few minutes walk of the hotel. Guests can enjoy a drink in the hotel bar.

Breakfast is full hearty meal that will set you up for the day, offering cooked food, cereal, toast, juices, tea and coffee for one reasonable set price. Special diets can be catered for with short notice also.

Centrally located just off the high street and only five minutes from the railway station and the historic Montrose Golf Links, which is the fifth oldest golf course in the world and has been in play since 1562.

Rewaco Trikes Scotland, located just outside Brechin, have an Aires site for motorhomes and campervans to stay overnight. It is £12 per night.

There are 5 spaces on hard standing, covered by CCTV for your security.

The bays are suitable for vehicles up to 8 metres in length.

Fresh water and bins are available for your recycling and general rubbish.

Toilets, teas, coffees etc. are available from the on-site Snack Bar, during the opening hours of 8.30am to 4.30pm, 7 days a week from 1 March to 31 October.

From the large hallway, head into the cosy lounge where everyone will want to be of an evening, snuggled in front of the roaring open fire; if it gets too warm, you can always open the stable door to let the fresh air in. Industrial shelving combines with the traditional Belfast sink to create the feel of a contemporary farmhouse kitchen with a modern range oven at its centre.

On the first floor, the large king-size room has a minimalist design, creating a bright open space to relax in. There is also a twin room on this floor and a traditional bathroom complete with free-standing roll-top bath.

Outside, there is plenty of space to stretch your legs as well as garden furniture for al fresco dining.
