Whether you’re looking for a peaceful self-catering break, a hearty meal, a venue for a big celebration, a quiet round of 9 holes or a days’ fishing, you’ll find it at Forbes of Kingennie Country Resort.

Set in the heart of the beautiful Angus countryside, the resort’s location is an ideal base for adventuring up an Angus Munro, uncovering countryside towns or heading into Dundee. Broughty Ferry and the city of Dundee are only minutes away, and Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth and Aberdeen are all within easy reach.

The Scullery Restaurant and Cairn O’ Mount bar are set in the heart of the resort, leading onto a timber-decked terrace overlooking the fishing ponds and beautiful Angus Countryside.

Dining in Kingennie’s popular Waterside Restaurant or Cairn O’Mount bar is a truly delightful experience, with striking views overlooking the resort grounds. Here we serve a range of dishes prepared by our excellent chefs, using not only fresh local produce but home grown produce from our family farm.

Our Inglesmaldie and Buddon Burn Events Suites are versatile rooms that fit the bill for all events, holding up to 180 guests. The neutral and contemporary spaces have large windows that look out onto beautiful landscaped grounds and are ideal for rustic weddings, celebration dinners, corporate away days and everything in between.

Visitors can also explore the various leisure activities available on site, or enjoy an overnight stay or short break in the self-catering accommodation.

Billy and Jory Duncan started Carnoustie Distillery in September 2017. The father and son team have set up what is the finest small, possibly the smallest, distillery in the UK. All their spirits are hand-crafted in small batches and are fermented, distilled, bottled and labelled in their log cabin in Carnoustie.

The distillery produces flavoured rum, vodka and gin from old recipes. The rum is made from organic molasses to give the ultimate rum taste. All products are made from scratch within the distillery which gives full control over finish quality.

Local outlets include:

  • Longparke Farmshop & Cafe
  • Glamis Castle
  • Brechin Castle Centre

Star Rock Shop is the oldest sweet shop in Scotland, continuously producing rock from the same premises in the Roods of Kirriemuir for nearly 200 years.

Star Rock is an original recipe using only real oil flavour – created by a mason who was blinded and had to change jobs in 1833. It was in his family for over 120 years and the recipes have been passed on with each new owner since.

Star Rock is made on the premises. The main original rock is a light lemon and a very popular flavour is Horehound. You can also find Treacle Toffee, Tablet, and the wee Kirrie secret of Cream Rock. During summer months we also sell Stewart Tower Ice Cream in various flavours.

The shop used to supply star rock to JM Barrie and send it to London when he moved, it has also been presented to the Queen and HRH Princess Mary.

Purchases can be made on the website which are available for delivery to any UK postcode.

Opening Times:
Tuesday to Saturday – 10am to 5pm
